New Student Orientation: MSDS Residential, Day 1

The new student orientation at the University of Virginia (UVA) and its School of Data Science (SDS) is designed to facilitate an exciting and seamless transition for incoming students. It aims to equip them with the necessary tools and knowledge for a successful academic journey and enriching college experience. Through this orientation, students are introduced to the plethora of services and resources available on Grounds, specifically tailored to boost their academic performance and overall college life. 

One of the core objectives of the orientation is to deepen students' understanding of effective strategies for success, helping them recognize their potential while also acknowledging the challenges they might face. It serves as a foundational step for students to begin exploring their capabilities and setting realistic goals for their time at UVA and SDS. 

Moreover, the orientation plays a crucial role in knitting students into the fabric of the UVA and SDS community. It encourages them to feel connected and integrated, fostering a sense of belonging and confidence in their decision to pursue their education here. Overall, the orientation is more than just an introduction to campus life; it's an engaging experience that prepares students for a vibrant and fulfilling academic journey, setting the stage for their future achievements. 

Orientation is in-person and mandatory. Programming will be scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All events will take place in the new UVA School of Data Science building at 1919 Ivy Rd. Check back for more information and updates.
